Resumen

El peso al nacer (PN) y la edad gestacional de parto (EGP) son determinantes importantes de la sobrevivenica neonatal y el consiguiente estado nutricional y de salud. Estos determinantes han adquirido protagonismo creciente en el mundo, tanto desde el punto de vista de la salud pública como de la economía, pues es necesario tomar decisiones sobre la destinación de recursos para prevenir y atender los nacimientos de alto riesgo.

Este trabajo informa sobre el desarrollo de un modelo de regresión logística que estima la probabilidad de muerte neonatal segun PN y EGP. El modelo se basa en una muestra de 253.951 nacimientos vivos en hospital y 2.108 muertos neonatales, que se estiman incluyen el 98.2% de todos los nacidos vivos y el 86.6% de todas las muertes neonatales que ocurrieron en Chile en 1986....
